The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) announced this week that a human case of West Nile Virus has been detected in Norfolk County. This brings the year total of human WNV cases to four. As a result of this finding the Town of Milton has been raised to a high-risk level for WNV.
As a response to the high-risk level Norfolk County Mosquito Control will be conducting additional preventative spraying in Milton. This spraying is truck-mounted and takes place at dusk on Thursdays in Milton.
Residents can also request spraying in their specific area of residence through the Norfolk County Mosquito Control Website which can be accessed through the following link: https://norfolkcountymosquito.org/service-request-form/
Residents may also request their address be put on a no spray list to be excluded from area wide truck-based spraying. To request an exclusion please follow the following link:

Additional individual level prevention measures should be taken to avoid mosquito exposure (especially when outdoors between dawn and dusk):
- Use EPA-registered insect repellent (for more information on registered repellants please refer to the EPA at: https://www.epa.gov/insect-repellents)
- Wear Protective clothing such as loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirts and pants
- Use screens on windows and doors
- Empty and scrub, turn over, cover, or throw out items that hold water, such as tires, buckets, toys, pools, birdbaths, flowerpot saucers, or trash containers
