My name is Michelle Bishop and I am the mental health/co response clinician for the Milton Police Department. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work (LICSW) with 16+ years of experience working in law enforcement, correctional, and psychiatric settings. I graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and from Boston University in 2020 with a master's degree in social work.
I have worked full-time with the Milton Police Department since February 2022. I am partnered with police officers who are assigned to the Community Service Unit. My primary role is to respond to calls alongside officers working patrol as well as our CSU to assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. I determine an individual's level of risk, appropriate level of care, send referrals, and connect individuals of all ages to treatment options to best meet their needs. Treatment options can be both mental health and substance use related. Additionally, I conduct follow up contacts/care for individuals in our community follow a crisis intervention to continue to offer them additional support and symptom management.
Feel free to reach out to me via phone or email if you have any questions and need additional information.
